Avenue A Films

Born from downtown grit and artistic rebellion, Avenue A Films champions emotionally intelligent storytelling at the intersection of film, music, and performance.
We spotlight female-led narratives, offbeat ensemble casts, and genre-defying worlds that balance dark humor with raw humanity.
Our work is fearless, personal, and deeply collaborative — a home for artists who break molds and tell stories that stick.

Our Team

Aria Pullman
Founder & Creative Director

Aria is a filmmaker, musician, and actor whose work lives at the intersection of image and sound.
Her experience in film and television — with appearances in Jersey Boys, Rescue Me, and Once Upon a Time — informs her directing with a performer’s sensitivity to character and a deep instinct for story.
Her Super 8 short, The Fircle of Life, premiered at BFI IMAX in London, and her vérité-style music documentary, Hand Shake Love, is currently making the rounds on the film festival circuit.
As a composer and recording artist, Aria’s original songs have been featured in hit series including Hacks, Reacher, and Lucy in the Sky. She is also the frontwoman of the bands AO, Some Go Haunting, and Apocalypstik, blending a cinematic tone with electro dream pop, alt-folk, and punk aesthetics.
Through both her visual and sonic storytelling, she champions emotionally resonant narratives that defy convention and linger long after the final frame.
Her work doesn’t just tell a story — it hums in your chest.

A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Dechen has been active in film and Off-Broadway theater since the early 1990s.
As an actor, his credits include Zoolander, Gods and Generals, The Truth About Cats & Dogs, Hamlet, and The Love Guide, working across genres and formats with a strong command of character and tone.
In 2017, he shifted into producing, beginning with Dead Layer, starring Cameron Douglas, and currently serves as executive producer on feature films in development — including the genre-bending dark comedy Kidnapping Parker Posey.
As a creative consultant with Avenue A Films, Dechen helps shape the emotional arc, performance tone, and story architecture of each project, bringing depth, clarity, and artistic vision to every stage of development.

Alexandra Holden
Creative Consultant

Alexandra Holden is an actor whose career bridges cult comedy, character drama, and independent cinema.

Her breakout role as the beauty-queen-turned-patient in Drop Dead Gorgeous cemented her as a performer unafraid of satire and strangeness. From the biting humor of In & Out and Sugar & Spice to turns in The Hot Chick and Wishcraft, Alexandra’s range spans the sharp, the absurd, and the deeply human.

On television, she’s appeared in Friends, Ally McBeal, Friday Night Lights, and Rizzoli & Isles, moving fluidly between mainstream series and grounded, emotionally charged storytelling.

Her work carries an understated wit and vulnerability — a quality that gives even her most comedic roles a haunting sincerity.

Through the decades, Alexandra has quietly built a body of work that celebrates off-beat women and the strange beauty of imperfection.

Her performances don’t demand attention — they draw you in.

Chris is the songwriter behind “Familiar,” the breakout theme song for Shane Gillis’s Netflix comedy Tires.

A singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, he brings emotional depth and atmosphere to every project — crafting soundscapes that are as personal as they are cinematic.

Known for fronting the indie rock band Illinois and his solo project Archawah, Chris’s work spans from anthemic indie folk to experimental electronic textures.

His music has appeared in Weeds, NBA 2K10, and across the Avenue A slate, where his instinct for tone and storytelling helps shape not just what’s heard, but what’s felt.

Darryl Kniffen
Composer & Sound Design

Darryl Kniffen is a drummer, composer, and educator whose work bridges jazz fusion, cinematic rhythm, and emotionally layered score design.

As the founder of Planet Kniffen, his 2018 album Dreamland debuted at #5 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz chart and drew praise from Jazziz Magazine for its conceptual range and cohesion.

A seasoned collaborator, Darryl has performed with artists ranging from Broadway’s Maxine Linehan to SNL saxophonist Alex Foster, and contributed to the music of Mondo Cozmo.

At Avenue A Films, he helps craft soundscapes where every hit, hush, and rhythm line serves the spine of the story.
